HOW TO WRITE YOUR OWN SONGS
RECORD, EDIT, MIX & MASTER YOUR OWN SONGS
Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) are software applications that turn devices like laptops into comprehensive, professional, all-in-one recording- and production studios. They are the central hub where audio an MIDI are captured, arranged, edited, processed, mixed and mastered to create polished songs, podcasts and/or soundtracks.
DAWs act as virtual control rooms, merging the capabilities of physical mixing consoles, multi-track tape machines, and instrument tracks.
Vocals, guitars and instruments are recorded through microphones. MIDI keyboards are used to play software synthesizers and drum machines. Timing, pitch and performance are edited without ever permanently altering the original raw audio file. Individual tracks are balanced, frequencies are polished, and the overall volume and dynamics are finalized for distribution.
